BlackBar Cattle Company was founded with a simple mission - to raise high-quality, natural beef the right way. With a deep respect for the land, our animals, and the ranching heritage, we’re committed to providing beef that’s ethically raised, grass-fed, and full of flavor. Our focus on sustainable land management and responsible cattle care allows us to deliver beef you can trust, straight from our pasture to your plate.

Hangar Ranch

Hangar Ranch is a 480-acre working cattle ranch nestled in Hereford, Arizona, offering stunning views of both the Huachuca Mountains and the San Pedro River Valley. Established in 1937 as an Arabian horse breeding ranch, it later evolved into a renowned cattle-breeding operation, with champion Hereford bulls sold to ranches around the world.

Today, Hangar Ranch is dedicated to raising natural, sustainable beef cattle, supported by responsible land management and rich native grasslands. The ranch features a historic adobe airplane hangar, a natural wildlife pond, and more than five varieties of native grasses - recognized as some of the finest in the River Valley - providing exceptional forage for a healthy, thriving herd.

The Horses of Hangar Ranch

The horses of Hangar Ranch are more than just animals — they are the heart and soul of our operation. From hot days moving cattle across the pastures to quiet mornings riding fence lines, these horses carry the weight of ranch work with strength, grace, and an unwavering partnership.

Their loyalty, intelligence, and hard-working spirit embody everything a true working ranch represents. Without them, the land, the cattle, and the rhythm of ranch life simply wouldn’t be the same.

Herd Security

Thelma & Louise

These girls play a vital role in protecting the herd, especially our calves, from predators. Known for their natural guarding instincts, they stay close to the cattle, keeping a watchful eye and standing their ground against coyotes and other threats. Their presence offers an added layer of security, allowing our calves to grow strong and healthy without constant worry.
